Palm trees are the ultimate architectual plant. Although they are associated with steamy jungles or hot deserts, many are hardy enough to thrive in much cooler climates. Most of them are easy to grow and maintain. The cabbage palm (Cordyline australis) and the jelly palm (Butia yatay) are two impressive examples.
